NAF C-130 aircraft lands safely in Banjul

The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that its C-130 aircraft earlier involved in a precautionary landing has landed safely in Banjul, The Gambia, while on a ferry flight to Portugal for scheduled depot maintenance.

The confirmation was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.

According to the statement, the aircraft transited Accra in line with an updated flight plan and is expected to continue its journey through Casablanca to Portugal for the maintenance exercise.

The NAF explained that ferry flights for aircraft programmed for maintenance are required to operate through designated airfields, with movements spaced in accordance with established aviation safety procedures.

It added that all personnel onboard were safe and that the aircraft remained serviceable.

The Air Force also expressed appreciation to host authorities in Ghana and The Gambia, as well as other countries overflown, for the support extended to the crew during the operation.

It further acknowledged the concern and goodwill shown by Nigerians, reassuring the public of its commitment to the highest standards of safety and professionalism in all its operations.
