The Nigerian Air Force has neutralised no fewer than 2,351 terrorists through 274 air interdiction missions carried out across the country in 2025, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
The statement, signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operations were flown in 379 combat sorties targeting terrorist camps, logistics hubs, training grounds and movement routes in the North-East, North-West and North-Central regions.
It said the sustained air campaign disrupted supply lines, weakened command structures and denied terrorists freedom of movement, allowing ground troops to reclaim and secure several previously contested areas.
The statement added that in the Niger Delta, NAF air operations destroyed hundreds of illegal refining sites, 126 storage tanks and several boats used by oil thieves, dealing a major blow to crude oil theft and related criminal activities.
Commenting on the operations, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said, “The outcomes recorded in 2025 clearly demonstrate the growing precision, effectiveness and lethality of Nigerian Air Force air power.”
“These results were made possible through intelligence-driven targeting, improved platform availability, enhanced crew proficiency and seamless coordination with surface forces and other security agencies,” he said.
The statement said Aneke assured Nigerians that the NAF would intensify air operations in 2026 while strictly observing rules of engagement and international humanitarian law, adding that criminal elements would find “no safe haven anywhere within our borders.”
