The Nigerian Air Force has commissioned a Chief of the Air Staff Special Intervention Project in Adobu Community, Patani Local Government Area of Delta State, as part of efforts to promote grassroots development and strengthen civil–military relations.
The project, which involved the renovation of the Adobu Community Town Hall and a free medical outreach for residents, was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the intervention was executed by retired Air Vice Marshal Ebimbowei Dennis Yinkere under the Chief of the Air Staff Special Intervention Project scheme, approved by the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke.
Speaking at the event through the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Air Chief said the project reflected the NAF’s people-centred approach to national security and community development.
He noted that sustainable security could only be achieved when military operations were matched with genuine concern for the welfare of citizens, urging residents to support security agencies with timely and credible intelligence.
The renovated town hall was upgraded to serve as a central venue for meetings, cultural activities and civic engagements, with the statement noting that the facility would promote unity, social cohesion and inclusive decision-making within the community.
The statement added that the free medical outreach provided residents with access to essential healthcare services, including early detection of illnesses, while easing the financial burden of medical care on families.
In his remarks, AVM Yinkere (retd.) expressed appreciation to the Air Force leadership for the opportunity to give back to his community, describing the project as a symbol of cooperation between the military and the people.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by traditional rulers, community leaders, retired senior military officers and representatives of the Delta State Government, reflecting broad support for the NAF’s community-focused initiatives.
