APC on winning path in FCT council polls – Mahmoud

FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, says the unity within the All Progressives Congress, APC, is a strong indication that the party is firmly on track to winning next month’s Area Council elections in Abuja.

Mahmoud, who stated this during the official flag-off of the APC e-registration exercise held at the Apo Community Town Hall, said the APC was established on progressive ideals built around broad-based participation, internal democracy, and responsive governance.

The minister, in a statement by her media aide, Austine Elemue, described the e-registration initiative as a major step in strengthening inclusiveness and digital participation within the ruling party.

She praised the party leadership for embracing technology through the e-registration platform, saying it would “enhance transparency” and make participation easier for young people ahead of the general elections.

According to her, the e-registration exercise was not just about expanding membership figures, but about strengthening party structures, updating its database, and ensuring that every member could play a role in shaping the future of both the party and the country.

While highlighting the FCT’s unique role as the nation’s capital and a cultural melting pot, the minister urged men, women, youths, and persons living with disabilities to register or update their details, noting that wider participation would further strengthen the party.

She reaffirmed the FCT chapter’s commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, calling for unity and grassroots involvement as the party intensifies mobilisation.

FCT APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, said the exercise followed President Tinubu’s directive for a nationwide e-registration of party members. He thanked party supporters for their large turnout at the event, insisting that “while APC leads, others follow.”
