The All Progressives Congress, APC, has disowned a membership slip circulating on social media which falsely suggests that a notorious terrorist, Mohammed Bello Turji, was registered as a member of the party.
The party said the document was fake and had no link whatsoever to its membership register or database.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC described the slip as a fabrication designed to mislead members of the public.
The party said all digital parameters displayed on the purported slip did not correspond with records generated from its electronic registration and validation system.
According to the APC, the slip claimed that Turji was registered in “Ward 13” of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, noting that the local government has only 10 wards.
It added that other information contained in the document was nonexistent and not captured in the party’s membership database.
The APC described the circulation of the document as the handiwork of mischief makers bent on hoodwinking the public for sinister objectives.
The party urged its members and the general public to disregard the offensive document in its entirety.
