A solemn Sunday service turned tragic in Wiesmath, in the district of Wiener Neustadt, after a beloved parish priest, Rev. Fr. Raimund Beisteiner, collapsed during Holy Mass and later died.
Witnesses said the priest slumped while returning the consecrated Hosts to the tabernacle, causing shock and panic among worshippers inside the packed church. Parishioners and emergency responders immediately rushed to his aid and made efforts to resuscitate him.
Despite the swift intervention, Fr. Beisteiner was pronounced dead shortly afterward inside the church, leaving the congregation in deep grief and disbelief.
The sudden passing of the priest has thrown the parish community into mourning, with many describing him as a dedicated shepherd who served with humility and commitment. Church officials and parishioners have continued to gather for prayers, entrusting his soul to God’s mercy and offering support to one another in the wake of the painful loss.
Messages of condolence have continued to pour in for his family, the parish community, and all who witnessed the tragic incident.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the church authorities.
