The Federal Capital Territory Administration has taken a bold step to reposition Abuja as a global luxury destination, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding to redevelop Jabi Lake Waterfront into an internationally acclaimed mixed-use complex.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, who signed the MoU with Surbaban Broadband on behalf of the FCT Administration, described the project as transformative for the city’s skyline and economy.
Wike, while expressing confidence that the development would elevate Abuja to the level of global icons such as Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, called on the Surbaban Broadband team to execute the project with “transparency, sustainability, and excellence.”
In his words, “This ambitious initiative is projected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs, stimulate economic growth, and elevate Abuja’s waterfront to world-class standards with luxury residential, commercial, hospitality, and recreational facilities.”
The Minister reiterated the FCT Administration’s commitment to leveraging public-private partnerships as a tool for sustainable development and enhancing residents’ quality of life.
Bar. Ahmed Nasser (Dan Darman Lokoja) who led the Surbaban Broadband delegation, described the agreement as a pivotal moment in redefining Abuja’s global reputation.
He said, “Jabi Lake Waterfront will not only boost local employment and investment but also attract international tourism and business, cementing the FCT’s status as Africa’s leading capital city,”
Other members of the development team include Mrs. Olufunmilayo Hannah Aigbomiam, Mr. Idris Usman of First Trust Mortgage Providers, and Mr. Pankaj Khandelwal, a foreign partner.
Khandelwal reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering world-class results. “We will deploy cutting-edge international expertise, innovative design, and best-in-class construction practices to realize this vision,” he said.
The team has pledged to mobilize to site immediately and complete the project within the agreed timeframe, signaling a new era of large-scale, high-quality development in Abuja.
