2027: We’ll deliver 85% votes for Tinubu in Adamawa – Fintiri

The Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has pledged that the state will deliver no fewer than 85 per cent of its votes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Fintiri gave the assurance on Wednesday during a courtesy visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and members of the party’s National Working Committee at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

The governor described his return to the ruling party as a homecoming, noting that he was among those who formed the APC in 2014.

“We do not call it defection because we formed the APC together in 2014. This is a homecoming,” he said.

He added that political structures across Adamawa had aligned with the party and were already mobilising support ahead of the next general election.

“We are working towards delivering 85 percent of the votes in Adamawa, and we will ensure that no other candidate secures up to 25 percent in the state,” Fintiri said.

He also expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances in 2027, stating that the President’s economic reforms were beginning to yield positive results despite the initial challenges experienced by Nigerians.

“Judging by the work done by Mr President, he deserves a second term,” the governor said, adding that there was “light at the end of the tunnel.”

Welcoming the governor, Yilwatda described his return to the APC as a significant boost for the party.

“We welcome him to where he rightfully belongs. He is a progressive with a progressive mindset, and the APC remains the natural home for leaders committed to reform, development and national renewal,” he said.

Yilwatda also dismissed claims that the ruling party was responsible for crises within opposition parties, noting that it was not the responsibility of the governing party to organise the opposition.

“Democracy is competitive. Our duty is to deliver good governance and win elections based on performance,” he added.

Meanwhile, some members of the Federal Executive Council also visited the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the party and the executive arm of government.
