Ododo named governor of the year for youth development, security

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has been named Governor of the Year on Youth Development and Security by Champion Newspapers.

The recognition is part of the Champion Newspapers Annual Awards organised by Champion Newspapers Limited to honour notable Nigerians for their contributions to national development.

Ododo was listed among distinguished Nigerians selected for the awards in recognition of his administration’s efforts toward youth empowerment and strengthening security across Kogi State.

Reacting to the development, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismaila Isah, said the award was a recognition of the governor’s commitment to youth development and sustained peace in the state.

Isah noted that the honour reflected the impact of the administration’s youth-focused policies, including skills development programmes, job creation initiatives and support for young entrepreneurs.

He added that the government’s collaboration with security agencies and local security outfits had also helped to maintain peace and stability across communities in the state.

According to him, the governor remains committed to creating opportunities for young people while strengthening the state’s security architecture to promote economic and social development.

The award ceremony is scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.

Prominent Nigerians from different sectors are expected to be honoured at the event for their contributions to national development.
