Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has intensified its corporate social responsibility activities in Rivers State, with programmes focused on education, youth development and community support.
The company recently sponsored the annual inter-house sports competition at Community Primary School, Ogbunabali, Port Harcourt, where it presented trophies to winners and provided canopies and other logistics.
Speaking at the event, Community Liaison Officer, Hon. Chike, urged pupils to remain focused and disciplined, noting the company’s commitment to their academic and physical development.
In another initiative, the firm hosted students of Bloombreed Schools, Port Harcourt, at its regional office on the Eastern Bypass. The visit began with a safety induction led by the Regional HSE/CSR Manager, Timothy Oseghe, followed by technical sessions aimed at broadening the students’ career choices.
The students also toured the company’s facilities, where experts, including Laboratory Supervisor Kelly Ngbor, Civil Engineer Elorah Adebola, Maintenance Supervisor Abdul Samuel, HSE Supervisor Mike Fanisi, and HSE Officer Chima Nwaudah, demonstrated operational processes.
Earlier in February, the company sponsored joint inter-house sports competitions for several schools in the state. At one of the events, the Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Gabriel Ubani, encouraged students to combine academic excellence with sporting activities.
At Model Primary School, Nkpogwu, company representatives emphasised the importance of holistic child development and urged pupils to adopt positive lifestyles.
Oseghe said the initiatives were deliberate efforts to invest in the next generation.
“Our objective is to promote the total well-being of students, helping them grow into complete individuals equipped for life’s challenges,” he said.
The company added that its CSR interventions also include donations of food and relief materials to orphanages, vocational training for girls, and support for community development programmes.
Julius Berger said the efforts reflect its commitment to not only infrastructure development but also improving lives and strengthening host communities.
