APC elects new executives for North-West zone

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a new set of zonal executives for the North-West, in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s structure ahead of future political engagements.

The development followed a zonal congress held in the region, where delegates from the seven North-West states participated in the selection of new leaders to oversee the party’s affairs at the zonal level.

Party officials said the exercise was conducted peacefully, with consensus emerging in most positions, reflecting what they described as unity among stakeholders in the zone.

The newly elected executives are expected to coordinate party activities across Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto and Zamfara states, as well as mobilise support for the APC in upcoming elections.

Speaking shortly after the exercise, party leaders in the zone expressed confidence in the capacity of the new executives to consolidate the gains of the party and ensure internal cohesion.

They also called on members to remain committed and work together to strengthen the APC’s presence in the region.

In their acceptance remarks, some of the newly elected officials pledged to promote inclusiveness, discipline and transparency in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The North-West is considered a key political bloc in Nigeria, with a large voting population that has historically played a significant role in determining electoral outcomes.

Observers say the emergence of new zonal leadership could influence the party’s strategy and grassroots mobilisation efforts as political activities gradually build up across the country.
