President Bola Tinubu on Thursday urged Nigerians to pay their taxes, saying increased revenue would enable his administration to deliver more infrastructure projects across the country.
Tinubu also expressed confidence that Nigeria was not beyond redemption, insisting that the Renewed Hope Agenda was already yielding results through ongoing infrastructure development.
The President stated this at the inauguration of the Arterial Road N16–Ring Road III Interchange linking Jahi District and Gwarinpa in the Federal Capital Territory.
Represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu described the interchange as more than a transportation project, saying it would improve connectivity, reduce traffic congestion and boost economic activities in the nation’s capital.
According to him, the project would ease movement between key districts of the FCT, reduce travel time and improve security.
“This interchange opens up critical districts of the FCT and connects them smoothly to the rest of the territory. Workers will get home earlier, security will improve because criminals thrive when society stands still,” he said.
Tinubu said infrastructure remained the foundation of prosperity and a key pillar of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that the newly completed interchange demonstrated that Nigeria could overcome its developmental challenges through focus, discipline and political will.
“The Jahi-Gwarinpa interchange is proof that Nigeria is not beyond redemption. With focus, discipline and political will, Nigeria will deliver, and we are delivering,” the President stated.
He appealed to residents of the FCT and Nigerians to fulfil their civic obligation by paying taxes and other statutory levies.
“Pay your taxes and levies so that government can do even more for you,” he said.
The interchange is one of several infrastructure projects being commissioned in the FCT to commemorate the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration.
