The Katsina State Government has concluded a three-day capacity-building workshop on social protection data management aimed at strengthening the implementation of its newly developed Social Protection Management Information System.
The workshop, organised by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in Zaria, Kaduna State, brought together Social Protection Desk Officers and other stakeholders from Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Participants received training on harmonised data entry, budget upload, expenditure tracking, quarterly reporting, executive dashboard development, data validation, approval workflows and the Social Protection Strategic Implementation Framework.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Director of Social Protection, Dr. Tijjani, commended participants for their commitment and urged MDAs to effectively utilise the digital platform to improve coordination, accountability and monitoring of social protection programmes.
He said accurate and timely data entry, expenditure tracking and reporting are critical to evidence-based planning and sustainable development, adding that the system supports the Katsina State Government’s digital transformation agenda.
Dr. Tijjani also assured participants of continued technical support and announced that the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning would hold quarterly meetings of the Social Protection Technical Working Group to review implementation progress, address emerging challenges and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders.
The state government said the workshop marks another step towards leveraging technology to improve transparency, efficiency and accountability in the delivery of social protection services across Katsina State.
