Residents of Agbor, Ughelli and other communities across Delta State have commended Julius Berger Nigeria Plc for its ongoing flyover and road construction projects, expressing optimism that the developments will improve transportation and stimulate economic activity across the state.
The commendation follows continued work on the Agbor and Otovwodo flyover projects in Ughelli, as well as the commencement of construction on the strategic Warri Ring Road.
Residents said the projects would help reduce traffic congestion, improve mobility and strengthen commercial activities by creating better links between communities and major economic centres.
An Agbor-based entrepreneur, Chukwudi Nwosu, said improved road infrastructure was essential to sustainable economic development, noting that better connectivity could make it easier for businesses to operate and attract new investments.
Residents of Ughelli also welcomed the Otovwodo Flyover project, describing it as a long-term investment that could improve mobility and support the state’s economic growth.
The Warri/Effurun Roads and Flyovers Project includes road expansion, three major flyovers, drainage systems and other supporting infrastructure.
Industry analysts said projects of this scale could create direct and indirect employment opportunities in construction, engineering, logistics, equipment operations, security, material supply and other sectors.
Economic experts also projected that improved transport infrastructure could attract investment into manufacturing, real estate, agriculture, commerce and logistics.
A Warri businessman, Efe Edewor, said efficient transportation would reduce business costs and strengthen local economies.
Meanwhile, Julius Berger Project Manager, Engr. Thomas Haug, confirmed that construction had commenced on the first 11-kilometre section of the Warri Ring Road.
He also disclosed that the company had received letters of substantial completion from the Delta State Government for the DSC, Enerhen and PTI flyovers.
Despite recent rainfall, Julius Berger workers continued construction activities across the project locations, with the company expressing commitment to delivering the projects within schedule.
