Nigeria met and exceeded its OPEC production quota for the third consecutive month in July 2026, producing a combined 1.67 million barrels per day, mbpd, of crude oil and condensate, latest data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, has shown.
The country produced an average of 1.505mbpd of crude oil and 0.17mbpd of condensate during the month, bringing total average daily production to 1.67mbpd, above its OPEC quota of 1.5mbpd.
The statistics showed that Nigeria’s combined crude oil and condensate production peaked at 1.78mbpd during the month, while the lowest daily output stood at 1.57mbpd.
Despite meeting its OPEC quota, however, the data indicated a four per cent month-on-month decline in production in July.
The NUPRC attributed the decline to operational challenges at the Erha and Akpo fields, which affected production output during the period under review.
According to the Commission, the disruptions constrained production volumes and contributed significantly to the overall reduction in national crude oil output.
Despite the challenges, production operations across most other producing assets remained relatively stable, with operators implementing measures to sustain production efficiency and minimise the impact of operational constraints.
