The Federal Capital Territory Administration has finally shut the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses, directing that its functions be transferred to the Department of Land Administration.
FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, gave the directive with immediate effect, while approving the creation of a dedicated division within the Department of Land Administration to handle the sale of Federal Government Houses in the territory.
The move effectively brings the activities of the former committee and its secretariat to an end.
The ad-hoc committee had completed its assignment, but its secretariat remained in operation to deal with issues arising from the committee’s activities.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, said members of the public should henceforth direct all matters relating to the sale of Federal Government Houses to the Department of Land Administration.
The administration also issued a warning over possible attempts by fraudsters to exploit the transition by continuing to present themselves as officials of the defunct committee.
“Members of the public are also urged to be mindful of the antics and activities of fraudsters who parade themselves as staff, officers and members of the defunct Ad-Hoc Committee/Secretariat on SFGH as the Committee and Secretariat no longer exist.”
The closure of the secretariat takes immediate effect.
