The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has given candidates with outstanding admission offers dating back to 2021 a final opportunity to regularise their status, warning that all unaccepted or unrejected offers will be automatically reverted to “Not Admitted” after September 30, 2026.
The Board extended the deadline from Monday, August 31 to Wednesday, September 30, 2026, urging all affected candidates to take immediate action on their admission offers before the new deadline expires.
Spokesperson of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said in a statement that the extension was granted to enable candidates with pending admission offers, whether regular or through the Central University Information and Admission System, CUIIA, to clearly indicate whether they intend to accept or reject the offers.
He explained that candidates who accept their offers would be able to proceed with printing and obtaining their admission letters, while those who reject them would have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”.
The move, he said, would enable JAMB to update its records and maintain accurate and reliable national admission data.
Benjamin advised candidates who are no longer studying at the institutions where they were previously offered admission, or who are currently enrolled in programmes different from those for which the outstanding offers were made, to accept the old admission where necessary and subsequently apply for the appropriate correction or deletion.
He added that candidates currently pursuing a second degree but with an earlier admission offer still pending could reject the old offer and continue with their current programme.
The Board also sought to allay concerns among candidates who have received admission offers in the 2026 admission exercise but still have previous offers pending.
According to JAMB, such candidates can reject their earlier offers without any adverse effect on their 2026 admissions.
JAMB, however, stressed that the September 30 deadline is final and that there will be no further extension.
At the expiration of the deadline, all admission offers made from 2021 to date that remain neither accepted nor rejected will automatically be reverted to “Not Admitted” status and will remain so on the Board’s records.
The Board therefore urged all affected candidates to act immediately, stressing that failure to accept an admission offer within the stipulated period will render the offer invalid.
