September: Military counters 367 attacks, kills 52 terrorists

 

The Defence Headquarters says troops countered 367 attacks across various theatres of operation in September 2026, killing 52 terrorists and criminals.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, disclosed this while giving an update on military operations across the country.

He said Operation Enduring Peace recorded the highest number of attacks with 147 incidents, followed by Operation Fansan Yamma with 115 and Operation Whirl Stroke with 55.

Operation Hadin Kai recorded 33 attacks, while Operation Savannah Shield recorded 13 and Operation Udo Ka recorded four. No attack was recorded under Operation Delta Safe during the period.

Onoja said troops responded to the attacks with superior firepower and tactical manoeuvres, resulting in the neutralisation of 52 terrorists and criminals.

He added that 350 terrorists and criminals were arrested, while 655 kidnapped civilians were rescued and 75 insurgents surrendered to the military.

The troops also recovered 52 arms and 2,335 rounds of ammunition, dismantled eight illegal refining sites and recovered more than 304,822 litres of stolen petroleum products.

Giving the third-quarter operational figures, Onoja said troops neutralised 554 terrorists and criminals, arrested 1,333 others and rescued 1,736 kidnapped civilians between July and September.

He said 333 insurgents surrendered during the quarter, while 244 arms and 8,160 rounds of ammunition were recovered.

The military also dismantled 104 illegal refining sites and recovered 1,610,402 litres of stolen petroleum products during the period.
