After nearly 20days in captivity, the nightmare may finally be over for the Al-Kadriyar family of Bwari Area Council, as security agents, on Saturday night, successfully rescued all four sisters from kidnappers den.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command which confirmed their rescue, said all the victims of the January 2, 2024, kidnappers attack in Zuma 1 area of Bwari, have been rescued from the kajuru forest and reunited with their families.
Recall that bandits on 2nd January, stormed Zuma 1 village in Bwari Area Council where they abducted 10 residents, including Nabeeha, her five sisters and their father. Naheeba was later killed by the kidnappers who demanded the sum of N700 million ransome for the release of the remaining sisters.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Sunday morning, disclosed that the victims were successfully rescued through a joint operation by men of the Anti-Kidnapping squad of the FCT Police Command, alongside troops of the Nigerian Army.
Though no names were not mentioned in the press statement, further inquiries by The Abuja Inquirer suggested that Al-Kadriyar siblings were indeed among those rescued.
Adeh, in the statement, quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Garba Haruna, to have assured residents of sustenance of existing robust security arrangements in affected areas and beyond.
The statement reads part, “Following the relentless advancement of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Anti-Kidnapping squad in a concerted effort with troops of the Nigerian Army, on the heels of the kidnappers that struck the Zuma 1 area in the Bwari Area Council on the 2nd of January 2024, The FCT Police has rescued the victims and reunited them with their families.
“The operatives successfully rescued the victims around kajuru forest in Kaduna state at about 11:30 pm on Saturday 20th January 2024.”
The Command, while appreciating the Inspectors General of Police for the deployment of the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad, said the deployment has given an uplift to the existing security architecture of the FCT and has brewed public confidence.
Adding that, “the Commissioner of Police FCT Command CP Haruna Garba, wishes to reiterate the Commands commitment to sustaining the robust security deployment made in the area and other parts of the territory for the utmost maintenance of peace for all and sundry.
