Ahead of the Ondo State Governorship Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, says it has distributed 55,859 Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, over a period of five days in 203 wards of the state.
INEC said the PVCs were personally collected by voters who newly registered and those who applied for transfer and replacement of lost or damaged cards as provided by law.
The commission, in a statement by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Sam Olumekun, said the 55,859 collected PVCs represent 62.2 per cent of the 89,777 cards available for collection.
The statement noted that this is the highest percentage of PVCs collected in five days in Ondo State since the Commission introduced the CVR in 2015.
It further stated that detailed breakdown of the collection by Local Government Areas, LGAs, has been uploaded to our website and social media platforms for public information.
INEC also announced that the collection will resume in its 18 LGA offices in Ondo State from Wednesday 23rd to Tuesday 29th October 2024 from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily, including the weekend.
It noted that detailed information on the locations of INEC LGA offices in the state is already available on its website.
The commission appealed to the remaining voters to pick up their PVCs in person from its LGA offices, while reiterating its policy that no cards will be collected by proxy.
