Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has congratulated the management and staff of Nigerian Tribune as the newspaper celebrates its 75th anniversary.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo commended the publication’s longstanding dedication to responsible journalism. He noted that Nigerian Tribune has played a crucial role in shaping public narratives and promoting accountability in Nigeria by setting a strong agenda for truth, transparency, and fairness for over seven decades.
The governor described Nigerian Tribune’s legacy as a respected voice in the media landscape that has consistently upheld ethical standards, gaining the trust of its readers through balanced and objective reporting. He highlighted the newspaper’s contributions in countering misinformation and fake news, particularly during a time when unprofessional reporting is on the rise.
Governor Ododo underscored the importance of ethical journalism in sustaining democracy and the rule of law, asserting that Nigerian Tribune has set a high standard in this regard. He expressed optimism that the newspaper’s milestone celebration would further inspire its team to champion truth and integrity—values he considers essential to Nigeria’s democratic growth.
Nigerian Tribune, founded on November 16, 1949, by Chief Obafemi Awolowo and his wife, Hannah Dideolu, is celebrated as one of Nigeria’s pioneering media outlets, known for its dedication to public service and advocacy.
