As part of its humanitarian efforts during the festive season, the International Lions Club through its charter Abuja Prestige Metropolitan has provided food and relief items to over 300 residents of Idu Gbagyi, Karimo within the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking during the event, on Saturday in Abuja, Guiding Lion Nnena Owulo emphasized the importance of the initiative, which she said is central to the club’s activities and aligns with the directive of the District Governor, Maurice Ibok
She said, “We are here to carry out the Feed the Hungry project. Feed the Hungry is one of the core initiatives of the Lions Club, conducted every month. We are here to share the little we have with the community.
“The children are happy, the chief is happy, and the elders are happy. One remarkable aspect of this project is that the District Governor, Maurice Ibok, has mandated that every club must carry out this initiative every month. Clubs are encouraged to feed one or two families and share what they have with others. The goal is to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry.
“That is why we are here today. We have carried out this project in many other places, and it is now this community’s turn to benefit from the little we have to offer. We will continue to do this.’
Also speaking, First Vice President of the club, Lion Olupeju Osoba said, “We fed over 300 people this morning, the 21st day of December 2024, and they are so happy. We also gave them some other small items. God has been faithful.
“We came to Idu Gbagyi Karimu, to carry out the Feed the Hungry project this December 2024. It’s been so amazing. The people received us well, and there were so many of them.
“I just want to say thank you to all my team, the Lions, and even my charter president, Lion Helen Joseph. She has been so helpful.”
On his part, the Sarki of Idu Gbagyi, Musa Sarki, expressed gratitude to the group for their gesture of kindness toward his community. He also sought their support in urging other stakeholders to assist in completing the town hall building.
Other members in attendance are Intending Lion Asawelo Murey, Intending Lion Architect Sam Lewei, and Intending Lion Omowola Agbola, who ensured success of the event.
