Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting orphaned students through the newly launched Governor Ododo Orphan Students Care, GOOS-Care, initiative.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony in Lokoja, organized by the Kogi State Forum of Local Government Special Assistants, Governor Ododo stressed that no child in the state should feel abandoned due to the loss or financial struggles of their parents or guardians.

“You are not orphans as far as we have God Almighty,” the governor told the beneficiaries. He urged them to believe in themselves and avoid emotional setbacks, assuring them of the state’s unwavering support.

Ododo commended the Forum of Local Government Special Assistants for their efforts in initiating the programme, describing it as a testament to his administration’s grassroots-focused policies.

“This initiative shows that we are on the right path because this government is for the people,” he said.

He reiterated his commitment to addressing grassroots issues, including appointments within the government, and called on stakeholders and beneficiaries to remain steadfast. “What we are doing now may not be fully appreciated today, but its value will be evident in the future,” he added.

The Auditor General for Local Government, Yakubu Adabenege, also praised the forum for bridging the gap between the government and the grassroots. He advised the beneficiaries to utilize the resources provided wisely and emphasized the need to sustain the programme for long-term impact.

Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Jafar Kamarudeen, expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his dedication to improving lives, assuring that the programme would continue to benefit orphans across the state.

The GOOS-Care initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to fostering education and grassroots development in Kogi State.
