APC chieftain hits Okowa over IGR data

By Ambrose IMOBHIO, Asaba

Asaba Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has been carpeted by an All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Engr. Patrick Ishie, over what he claimed was the governor’s failure to explain what the state realises monthly as internally generated revenue, IGR.Ishie, the Ndokwa west local government council coordinator of Ovienebi 2023 governorship, slammed Okowa for ensuring that issues related to internally generated revenue in Delta state was shrouded in secrecy which he claimed was not good for the image of the state.According to him, Deltans are entitled to know what the state generates on monthly basis as internally generated revenues and what the state governor was utilising such money for.He berated the governor for not adhering to the principles of fairness, transparency and accountability in respect of the internally generated revenue, even as he admitted that the level of development in Delta state was not commensurate with what the state gets from federal allocation.Ishie, who stated that he was not surprised by the governor’s ways, labelled the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as a party which lacks ethos, discipline and clear-cut manifestos. He advised Deltans to vote out the PDP in all elective positions in the forthcoming election in the state, saying with Okowa’s abysmal performance, it was evident that the party has nothing positive to offer the citizens. He urged Deltans to vote massively for the candidate of the APC, Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege and his deputy, Friday Osanebi, and all APC candidates for elective positions in 2023.
