The University of Abuja, UniAbuja, says it has engaged a total of 46 postgraduate students across all faculties for its Graduate Teaching Assistants, GTA, and the Graduate Research Assistants, GRA, programmes for the 2021/2022 academic session.
The university, in a statement on its Facebook page on Friday, said the assistantship programme is designed to engage exceptional postgraduate students by their various departments for teaching and research in the course of their study in the university.
The statement quoted the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Prof Gabriel Moti, as saying that the programme is aimed at supporting the students to advance their education through practice – based experiences, research, teaching, mentoring and development of their skills towards a career in academics.
Moti explained that successful candidates for the GTA/GRA programme would get stipends to meet some of their needs, adding that the students were engaged following the approval of budget for running the programme, advert placement for the positions and interview conducted by the various departments.
