Sudan Crisis: Buhari holds talks with Egypt government, 1519 evacuees journey to Aswan 

As Egyptian authorities insist on a visa fee before admitting Nigerians transit back to the country, President Muhammadu Buhari has held talks with President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Also, an additional second batch of 31 buses carrying 49 evacuees has commenced conveying about 1519 evacuees to the borders of Aswan, Egypt.

Chairman of the Situation Room on evacuation of Nigerians from Sudan and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development,  Dr. Nasir Sani-Gwarzo, disclosed at a press conference on Sunday in Abuja.

Sani-Gwarzo who represented both,  Ministers of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama and Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq, said the border arrangements in those locations are different from the usual border arrangements we’re used to in West Africa.

“I just saw the report now, the input that of Mr. President himself, he has spoken to the government there, and the changes will be seen”

Speaking on the $1.2m that was payment to the transportation company for transporting about 5500 citizens that need to be evacuated, the chairman stated that “Sudan naturally does not have a banking system that is international.”

He added that “we paid a deposit. As soon as they received the deposit for 40 vehicles, they calculated exactly the amount we gave, and that is 13 point.something that equals an extra 1000s of dollars. they gave us 13 vehicles,All efforts to get them moved. They said no

“Give us another deposit” Now that we understood their language, we have decided to pay everything. So we are paid everything as I’m speaking with you.

 “I have reliable information that we are going to get easy access through the difficult passage that we mentioned earlier. We may get alternate access to the Sudanese border of the port of Sudan.” 

“I told them under no circumstance shall they leave anybody on the ground, even if it’s one more person that will enter a new boss. Let them activate our reserve list. So they will adhere to that. Initially when I asked So we’re expecting every bus to carry 49 people, The Chairman explain
