Ogun Governor’s palliative measures laudable, Says Bankole

 All Progressives Congress, APC, National Working Committee member,  Tolu Bankole,, has hailed Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for his empathetic approach to governance amidst the challenges posed by the rising cost of living.

Bankole’s remarks came as he lauded the governor’s comprehensive palliative measures aimed at alleviating the plight of the most vulnerable segments of the population.

Bankole commended Governor Abiodun for his exemplary efforts in alleviating the suffering of the most vulnerable in Ogun State and setting a standard for emulation by others.

Governor Abiodun whose multi-sectoral interventions cut across: education, health, agriculture, civil service among others amount to approximately ₦5 billion; said the initiatives were to overcome the temporary economic situation which are necessary sacrifices for a better future.

The impact of the interventions will reach: all 850,000 students in public primary and secondary schools in Ogun state. Cash grants to over  27,600 indigent students in various tertiary institutions nationwide. In the health sector, insurance health cover to over 70,000 beneficiaries, including pregnant women, children, the elderly, market women, and members of the informal sector.

Also, food palliatives, including rice and other food items, will be provided to approximately 300,000 households across the state. While civil servants will continue to receive wage awards and other benefits.

Honourable Bankole said efforts must be made to ensure the well thought out interventions reach the intended target population of indigent students, vulnerable households, Persons With Disabilities (PWDS), the elderly and other vulnerable population. He added that this will engender hope to the good people of Ogun state. 

“I thank H.E Prince Dapo Abiodun for the show of understanding and courage during this challenging time. You have never hid your love and undivided attention to our dear state. This is part of the many reasons why the welfare of Ogun people has remained top priority of your administration. 

“Let me urge you to continue to prioritize the people’s welfare as you are building infrastructures to make life more meaningful and better for our people and other residents of the gateway state in the long run.

“Finally, let me appreciate the people of Ogun for their support and prayers for this administration. Your commitment to building our future together has contributed largely to the success of this administration. 

“I implore us to rededicate ourselves to the service of the state and join hands with this administration to deliver on its lofty vision for Ogun state.”
