NEMA moves to support Plateau attack victims

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced profiling of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State following recent attacks that left many dead and wounded.

This was disclosed in a statement by the NEMA Headquarters Press Unit on April 6, 2025, and made available to journalists.

Head of NEMA Jos Operations Office, Mr. Abdulrazaq Adebiyi, who led the team, said the move was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to provide urgent support to victims of the attacks.

“As directed by Mr. President, the Director General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, activated emergency response teams to cater to the needs of displaced persons and deliver prompt relief,” Adebiyi said.

The team visited the Cottage Hospital in Bokkos where 16 victims were still receiving treatment. The hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Aring A., said some patients with serious injuries had been referred to tertiary hospitals.

NEMA also visited the IDP camp at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Bokkos. The parish priest, Rev. Fr. Andrew Dewan, commended the agency for its swift response.

Displaced persons at Manguna and Daffo communities are also being profiled to ensure proper humanitarian support.

A high-level NEMA delegation from Abuja has arrived in Jos to oversee the ongoing emergency intervention.
