Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Christopher Maikalangu, has vowed that the council will not allow a repeat of EndSARS experience in the council.
Speaking during a Town Hall meeting and engagement with youths and other stakeholders in AMAC, Maikalangu emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the area.
“We will not allow a repeat of the EndSARS experience in AMAC,” Maikalangu said. “We have learned from the past and we are determined to maintain law and order in our area. We will work with our youth and stakeholders to ensure that their concerns are addressed peacefully.”
Maikalangu also commended the youths of AMAC for opting out of the planned nationwide protests and instead choosing to engage in dialogue with the government.

This is the only way we can achieve meaningful progress and address our grievances. We are proud of our youth for showing maturity and responsibility.”
The AMAC Chairman also revealed that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has addressed the demands of the FCT youths and established a Mandate Secretariat for Youth Affairs in the FCT.
“We have had meaningful deliberations and protests will not hold in AMAC and the FCT. We will continue to engage with our youths and stakeholders to ensure that their concerns are addressed. We are committed to creating a conducive environment for everyone to thrive.”
Maikalangu also listed the interventions of President Bola Tinubu in addressing issues affecting Nigerians, including the establishment of a Youth Secretariat and the signing of the Minimum Wage Bill into law.
“President Tinubu has shown his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, and we are grateful for his efforts,” Maikalangu said.
Also speaking, the District Head of Jikwoyi, Nicodemus Machi, stated the importance of maintaining peace and stability.
“We don’t want any protest that will destroy our properties and livelihoods. We are happy with the progress made so far, and we want to continue to work together to achieve more.”
Village Head of Jikwoyi, Dr Bawa Jetta, also urged the federal government to look into issues affecting AMAC, including hunger and land grabbing.
“We need price control and an end to land grabbing,” Jetta said. “We want to live in peace and harmony.”
Youth leader, Comrade Nonso Nwadiokwu, also commended the AMAC Chairman for his efforts in engaging with the youths.
“We appreciate the Chairman’s efforts in listening to our concerns and addressing them. We are committed to working with the government to achieve our goals peacefully.”
