A member of the All Progressives Congress. APC, National Working Committee, Hon. Tolu Bankole, has declared support for the Reserved Seats Bill for Women and urged that the same provision be extended to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
Bankole described the bill as “timely and reflective of the nation’s readiness,” stressing that women play a central role in development and governance.
> “Women are the engine room of development. No women, no nation,” he said, while commending Nigerian women as competent, responsible, and reliable leaders.
He appealed to federal and state lawmakers to ensure speedy passage of the bill, noting that PWDs must not be left out of such affirmative action.
“I respectfully urge our distinguished legislators to pass this all-important bill without delay and to extend the same treatment to Persons With Disabilities, who remain among the most vulnerable in our society,” he stated.
Highlighting the qualities women bring to leadership, Bankole said their inclusion in politics would enrich decision-making, drive innovation, and strengthen democracy. He also stressed the need to recognise the rights and potential of PWDs, describing their inclusion as a “national imperative.”
Turning to the economy, the APC chieftain praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms, noting that recent macroeconomic indicators prove that “Tinubunomics is working.” He cited a 4.23 percent GDP growth in the second quarter of 2025, declining inflation at 20.12 percent in August, stronger foreign reserves of $42.03 billion, and a rebound in oil production.
According to him, these improvements show Nigeria is “turning the corner” and moving toward sustained growth and shared prosperity.
Bankole congratulated Nigerians ahead of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, reiterating that passing the Reserved Seats Bill with inclusion for PWDs would mark a vital step toward equity, representation, and national renewal.
