Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, will on Friday commission 80 renovated Primary Healthcare Centres across the state. This is the first phase of the Primary Healthcare modernization project which began in April 2024.
This was announced in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismaila Isah.
The commissioning will begin at the Primary Healthcare Centre in Old Market, Lokoja.
According to the statement, the project aims to make health centres more functional and modern so that people across the state can easily access basic healthcare.
During earlier visits to some of the completed centres, Governor Ododo said his government is committed to ensuring that every citizen gets quality healthcare, especially in rural communities.
“Our administration is committed to making sure every citizen, no matter where they live, has access to affordable and efficient healthcare services,” he said.
He noted that the project goes beyond renovating buildings.
“This is about restoring confidence in public health facilities by providing modern equipment, qualified health workers and enough medicines,” he added.
Governor Ododo also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for supporting health sector reforms.
“The President’s focus on primary healthcare and human capital development has encouraged us to strengthen the health system in Kogi State,” he said.
It will be recalled that in April 2024, the Governor launched the revitalization of over 200 Primary Healthcare Centres. The first set of 80 completed centres is now ready for use in communities across Idah, Igalamela, Kabba, Lokoja, Mopamuro, Okene, Ogori-Magongo, Ijumu, Yagba East, Adavi and other parts of the state.
