The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has decorated 3 Commissioners of Police to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police, AIG, and 16 Deputy Commissioners to the rank of Commissioners of Police, CPs.
The senior police officers were decorated in a ceremony at the Goodluck Jonathan International Peacekeeping Centre, Force Headquarters, Abuja on Thursday.
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the event marked the promotion of Garba Ahmed, Nemi Edwin Osigoboka Iwo, and Salman Garba Dogo to the position of AIGs.
The newly-promoted CPs include: Cyriacus Enechukwu, Gombit Bangs, Rosemary Akpan, and Ayodele Adeyemi, among others.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Prince Ma Sani-Omolori, former Clerk to the National Assembly and Ciroma of Ebira Land; Mr. Nebeolisa Anako, former Permanent Secretary of the Police Service Commission; and retired DIG Valentine Ntomchukwu.
Also present were members of the Force Management Team, serving and retired senior officers, and the families of the honorees.
Speaking at the ceremony, the IGP congratulated the newly-promoted officers, urging them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and strict adherence to the rule of law.
Egbetokun emphasized the need for strategic policing to enhance national security and development, charging them to bring their expertise to bear in advancing the mission of the Nigeria Police Force.
