Police in the Federal Capital Territory have arrested three suspects in connection with the deadly attack on a Boys Brigade camping site in Zhayidna Village, Orozo, which led to the tragic death of a camper, identified as Johnson John.
According to a statement released by the FCT Police Command on Thursday, the breakthrough was achieved through credible intelligence and digital tracking of mobile devices belonging to the deceased.
The statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the Divisional Police Officer of Karshi Division, CSP Mbang Usang, led the tactical operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
The suspects arrested includes Stanley Ukweze, Dauda Yohana, and Gemu Adamu, all residents of Wasa Village in Karshi.
During the arrest, police recovered three mobile phones from the suspects. Two of the phones were later confirmed to be property of the deceased camper.
“The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement noted.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring a thorough and uncompromising investigation into the incident.
He assured the public that justice will be served and that the Command remains resolute in tackling violent crimes within the territory.
The Command also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of residents, community leaders, and youth stakeholders throughout the course of the investigation. It further urged the public to remain calm and law-abiding, and to report any suspicious activity through its emergency lines.
