Fasawe bags multiple awards for contributions to health, other sectors

The Mandate Secretary of the FCT Health Services and Environment Secretariat, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawe, has received three separate awards in recognition for her work in healthcare delivery, environmental protection, and climate advocacy.

The awards conferred on her in the month of June, were said to cut across professional bodies, civic platforms, and academia, pointing to the secretary’s growing influence beyond Abuja’s public service corridors.

A press statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to the Mandate Secretary, Bola Ajao, noted that Dr. Fasawe has continued to make impactful reforms in the Federal Capital Territory.

Her first award came during the Annual Conference of the Pest Control Association of Nigeria, held at Radisson Blu, Lagos, where she was named the “Amazon of Environmental Health”—a designation reserved for leaders making major contributions to pest control and public health systems.

She was later honoured with the “Silent Hero in Healthcare Delivery” award at the 7th edition of the Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards, NSHA,d in Abuja. The platform celebrates unsung contributors whose work has transformed service delivery without fanfare.

The final award was conferred by her alma mater, the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), during the 2025 International Conference of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Fasawe received an Award of Excellence in Climate Action for her growing role in integrating climate resilience strategies into health policy and public governance.

The three-day conference, themed “Accelerating Climate Action for Sustainable Livelihoods in Nigeria,” was attended by dignitaries including the Minister of Environment, Malami Balarabe Abba Lawal (who joined virtually), the Osun State Governor (represented by Prof. Chinwe Obiakwe), former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupeola Adelabu, and the OAU Vice Chancellor, Prof. A.S. Bamire.

They commended Dr. Fasawe’s leadership and described her as a proud ambassador of the university. A private reception in her honour was later hosted by her former classmates.

Responding, Dr. Fasawe thanked the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his doggedness in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and for creating an enabling environment that allows them to explore and deliver the dividends of democracy.
