The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has announced the commencement of a phased load management exercise in parts of the Federal Capital Territory to allow for ongoing road construction by the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA.
A recent statement posted on the company’s official website, indicates that the construction work had affected the 132KV around Gwagwalada-Kukwaba-Apo Line 2, thereby necessitating a temporary adjustment in power supply.
To effectively manage the interruptions, AEDC explained that the exercise will run in three phases, “The first phase of this exercise will run from October 28 to November 2, between 9am and 5pm daily.”
It further added that, “During this period, there may be temporary power interruptions in parts of Apo, Lokogoma, Lugbe, Pyakasa, Kabusa, Games Village, Guzape, Asokoro, Wuye, and Utako.”
Other affected locations are Jabi, Idu Industrial Area, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Jikwoyi, Ado, Keffi, Nasarawa Toto, Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga, and surrounding communities.
“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that the exercise is necessary to enhance network reliability and support ongoing infrastructure development,” AEDC stated.
It added that its technical teams will be on the ground daily to ensure quick restoration of supply, while customers will receive timely updates ahead of each phase.
