JAMB extends 2025 admission deadline in public universities

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has extended the deadline for the completion of the 2025 admission exercise in public universities from Friday, 31st October, to Monday, 17th November, 2025.

Public Communication Advisor at JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said in a statement that the extension became necessary due to emergent and compelling circumstances affecting the admission process in some universities.

JAMB noted that while public universities had shown commendable zeal and diligence in working toward the initial timeline agreed at the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on 18th July, unforeseen developments made the adjustment unavoidable.

The Board explained that the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities, AVCNU, had appealed for more time following disruptions caused by a court order which temporarily halted the 2025/2026 admission process.

According to JAMB, the order was only vacated on 28th October, 2025, adding that the National Universities Commission, NUC, on 29th October released a list of 229 newly accredited programmes across 37 universities, necessitating additional time for the affected institutions to schedule admissions into those courses.

“In light of these developments, and to ensure fairness and inclusiveness, the Board hereby extends the deadline for the completion of 2025 public university admissions to Monday, 17th November, 2025,” the statement read.

JAMB, however, stressed that the new deadline is final and must be strictly adhered to, even as it reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent, credible, and inclusive admissions process aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It noted that the overall deadline for admissions into all tertiary institutions remains 31st December, 2025.
