The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has issued a nationwide alert ordering the immediate recall of Indomie brand noodles, Vegetable Flavour variant, after confirmation from France’s Rappel Conso that the product contains undeclared milk and egg allergens.
These hidden ingredients pose serious health risks, especially to individuals with allergies or intolerances, and could trigger severe reactions.
In Public Alert No. 041/2025 dated December 18, 2025, NAFDAC warned that all batches of the recalled product, with a best-before date of February 6, 2026, must be removed from shelves and destroyed.
The country of origin remains unidentified in the recall notice, but NAFDAC stresses that even though Nigeria bans noodle imports, the product may still enter through online purchases or personal travel.
NAFDAC Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye directed all zonal directors and state coordinators to intensify surveillance and seize any suspected stock. “Distributors, retailers, and consumers are advised to exercise extreme caution. Do not consume, sell, or distribute this product,” the agency warned.
Citizens are urged to report any sightings or suspected sales to the nearest NAFDAC office or call the toll-free line 0800-162-3322.
Adverse reactions should also be reported via NAFDAC’s e-reporting platform.
Indomie Nigeria has publicly distanced itself from the recalled variant, stating it does not produce, import, or market “Vegetable Flavour” noodles and that the packaging shown online does not match its approved branding.
