Kogi First Lady’s aide empowers Agassa/Ateba women

Women in the Agassa/Ateba community of Okene Local Government Area have received food items and cash support through an empowerment programme organised by the office of the Wife of the Kogi State Governor as part of end-of-year humanitarian activities.

The programme was implemented by the Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, Aliyu Ohunene Nana, who represented the First Lady, Sefinat Usman Ododo, at the event held in Agassa.

Nana said the empowerment exercise was part of the First Lady’s renewed hope message to citizens across the state as the year 2025 winds down and preparations begin for 2026.

She explained that the outreach was targeted at women, widows, petty traders, elderly persons and individuals with special needs in the Agassa/Ateba community, with the aim of reducing economic hardship and strengthening household welfare.

According to her, the intervention demonstrated the First Lady’s resolve to ensure inclusive development and provide direct support to people at the grassroots level.

Beneficiaries received foodstuffs and cash gifts to help them meet basic needs and prepare for the New Year.

Nana described the empowerment as more than charity, noting that it was a deliberate effort to encourage self-reliance and improve the living conditions of families within the community.

She urged beneficiaries to use the support wisely, stressing that empowerment achieves its purpose when it translates into long-term improvement in livelihoods.

The Special Adviser also assured residents that the First Lady’s office would continue to roll out similar empowerment initiatives across other communities in Kogi State.

Community leaders and beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the First Lady for the support, describing it as a source of relief and encouragement. They offered prayers for the continued success of the state government, including Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and for lasting peace and development in the state ahead of the New Year.
