The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, has said the health sector is now central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s national development agenda.
Mahmoud, who was speaking at the inaugural national health convention and roundtable 1.0 organised by the APC Medical Council, praised the leadership of the council for initiating the event, saying it aligns with the APC-led government’s vision of people-centred governance and sustainable development.
The minister, in a statement by her media aide, Austine Elemue, described the roundtable discussion as timely and urged participants to deliberate on issues that could improve primary healthcare, maternal and child health outcomes, and address other lingering challenges in the sector.
She emphasized the need to focus on practical, implementable solutions to accelerate progress toward Universal Health Coverage.
According to Mahmoud, the APC-led administration, under the purposeful leadership of President Tinubu, has consistently demonstrated commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery and promoting policies that enhance the health and well-being of Nigerians.
She added that, with the president’s full support, huge resources are being committed to strengthening the FCT healthcare system across the city and satellite towns.
Mahmoud, therefore, encouraged all stakeholders to translate the day’s discussions into measurable actions that would positively impact communities.
The convention brought together healthcare professionals, policymakers, and party stakeholders to explore strategies for advancing the national health agenda.
