The Nigerian Railway Corporation has increased the number of train services on the Abuja-Kaduna route following a surge in passenger demand.
The corporation said the adjustment became necessary to accommodate the growing number of commuters relying on the rail corridor for safe and affordable transportation.
According to the NRC, the additional trips are aimed at easing congestion, reducing waiting time and improving overall service delivery on the busy route.
The Abuja-Kaduna rail line has continued to witness high patronage from travellers, especially amid rising road transport costs and security concerns along the highway.
An official of the corporation explained that the move was part of ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency and respond to the needs of passengers.
The official noted that the corporation remains committed to maintaining safety standards while expanding services to meet demand.
Regular commuters welcomed the development, describing it as timely and necessary. Some passengers said the increased frequency would help address overcrowding during peak travel periods.
They, however, urged the corporation to sustain improved service delivery, ensure timely departures and maintain the facilities.
The Abuja-Kaduna standard gauge rail line remains one of the busiest corridors in the country, serving thousands of passengers weekly.
