Nasarawa State University, Keffi, NSUK, has matriculated a total of 8,604 students admitted into various undergraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Speaking at the matriculation ceremony in Keffi, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, congratulated the newly admitted students, urging them to uphold high standards of character and academic excellence.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Halima Aliyu Doma-Kutigi, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the event marked the second matriculation presided over by the current Vice-Chancellor and the second to be held consecutively during the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent, periods she described as symbolising sacrifice, compassion and spiritual renewal.
Liman congratulated the fresh students for securing admission into one of Nigeria’s most cosmopolitan universities through a highly competitive process, describing their choice of NSUK as both wise and forward-looking.
She reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to delivering world-class education, advancing cutting-edge research, fostering entrepreneurial capacity and instilling sound moral discipline for lifelong success.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that matriculation signifies the formal induction of newly registered students into the academic community.
During the ceremony, the Registrar administered the matriculation oath in line with the provisions of the Oath Act, 1993, signifying the students’ commitment to abide by the University’s rules and regulations.
The Vice-Chancellor urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them and in the University by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, the National Universities Commission, NUC, and other professional regulatory bodies.
She also advised students to attend lectures regularly, participate actively in academic activities and demonstrate respect for University authorities, staff and fellow students.
She emphasised the University’s guiding principle that degrees are awarded on the basis of Character and Learning. Consequently, students were warned against violence, destruction of University property and all forms of misconduct.
The University announced that the orientation programme, which traditionally precedes matriculation, will be held later in the year. Students were encouraged to participate actively and benefit from the insights of resource persons.
