Some willing Nigerians seeking for safety have been escorted across the Armenian border by officials of the Nigerian Embassy in Iran for safe passage.
Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Dabiri-Erewa said so far, no Nigerian in Iran has been affected by the war as government officials remain at the border to receive all Who wants to leave.
Recall that the Federal Government had, in the wake of the American and Israel war with Iran, advised Nigerians living in the Middle East to maintain close contact with Nigerian diplomatic missions in their respective countries as tensions continue to escalate across parts of the region.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued an advisory on Saturday providing emergency contact numbers for Nigerians who may require urgent assistance.
Spokesperson of the ministry, Kimiebi Ebienfa, in the statement, said Nigerians affected by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East were advised to immediately reach out to the nearest Nigerian embassy or consulate.
It also urged citizens to ensure they were properly registered with Nigerian diplomatic missions in their country of residence to enable authorities provide timely assistance during emergencies.
According to the advisory, several Nigerian missions across the region have activated dedicated emergency lines to support citizens who may face security or humanitarian challenges arising from the crisis.
The government listed the Embassy of Nigeria, Tehran as one of the missions providing emergency support.
