The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa Oluyede, has urged officers and personnel of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to remain disciplined, resilient, and patriotic in the discharge of their duties, as Muslims celebrate the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr.
In a goodwill message marking the end of Ramadan, the CDS congratulated officers, soldiers, ratings, airmen, airwomen, and civilian staff of the Armed Forces, describing the period as one of reflection, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal.
He called on personnel to sustain the virtues of fear of God, honesty, tolerance, compassion, and mutual support imbibed during the holy month, noting that such values are essential for unity within the military and the country at large.
Oluyede acknowledged the sacrifices made by troops in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, paying tribute to fallen heroes and those who sustained injuries in the line of duty.
“At this critical stage of our national development, the security and stability of Nigeria remain essential to sustaining our democratic institutions and enabling citizens to pursue their aspirations in peace,” he said.
The CDS further urged troops across various theatres of operations to consolidate joint efforts, enhance operational synergy, and maintain professionalism in addressing evolving security threats across the country.
He also assured personnel that their welfare remains a priority, adding that efforts would continue to improve administrative support and strengthen operational capabilities.
Oluyede called on Nigerians to support the military in tackling the country’s security challenges, stressing that national defence requires a collective effort involving government institutions, communities, and citizens.
He expressed appreciation to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Tinubu, for his continued support to the military, particularly in enhancing defence capabilities, operational resources, and personnel welfare.
The CDS wished all personnel of the Armed Forces and Nigerians a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
