ICPC arraigns FRSC officer over alleged ₦4.31m job scam

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, Mohammed Adamu Ndagiyapa, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Jabi, Abuja, over an alleged ₦4.31 million employment scam.

Ndagiyapa, a Marshal Inspector II with the FRSC, was arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on receiving gratification and abuse of office.

According to the ICPC, the defendant allegedly collected ₦3.26 million between January 2021 and December 2022 from one Dauda Zira Gambo through his Stanbic IBTC Bank and First City Monumental Bank accounts under the pretext of securing employment for the applicant’s relatives in the FRSC.

The Commission also alleged that Ndagiyapa received an additional ₦1.05 million from one Munda Babayo for the same purpose, bringing the total amount involved to ₦4.31 million.

The ICPC said investigations revealed that the officer allegedly claimed he could secure employment opportunities in the FRSC through his relationship with senior officers of the Corps.

The offences are said to contravene Sections 10(a)(ii) and 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all four charges when they were read in court.

Following his plea, the trial judge, Justice F. E. Messiri, granted him bail on the terms of his administrative bail and adjourned the case until September 16, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

The ICPC said it remains committed to investigating and prosecuting cases of corruption, abuse of office and related offences in accordance with the law.
