A member of the All Progressives Congress National Working Committee, Tolu Bankole, says President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is laying the foundation for Nigeria’s economic transformation.
Bankole stated this in an Independence Day message congratulating Nigerians on the country’s 66th anniversary.
He said the return of President Tinubu from his working vacation provides an opportunity to intensify the implementation of ongoing reforms and ensure their benefits reach ordinary Nigerians.
Bankole cited Nigeria’s 3.89 per cent real GDP growth in the first quarter of 2026, up from 3.13 per cent in the corresponding period of 2025, as evidence of improving economic activity.
He also highlighted reforms in the foreign exchange market, the Petroleum Industry Act, the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 and the banking recapitalisation programme as measures he said could strengthen government revenue, investment and economic resilience.
The APC chieftain acknowledged that the reforms come with challenges, stressing that their impact would take time to translate into broader prosperity.
He called on Nigerians to support the APC-led government in the forthcoming general elections, arguing that continuity would allow the administration to consolidate its economic reforms.
Bankole also congratulated Nigerians at home and abroad, describing the country’s resilience, enterprise and unity as important to the nation’s continued development.
He said Nigeria could reach what he described as the “promised land” if the country sustains sound policies, strengthens institutions and ensures that economic growth translates into improved living standards.
