The Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation has taken a significant step in advancing public service delivery in Nigeria by completing a four-day Monitoring and Evaluation training programme for officials of SERVICOM.

The initiative, which is part of a broader partnership signed in July 2024, aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs.

SERVICOM, an acronym for Service Compact, is a government initiative tasked with ensuring Nigerian citizens receive high-quality public services.

Recognizing the critical role of SERVICOM, the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation conducted a skills assessment to identify areas for improvement.

The evaluation revealed that strengthening monitoring and evaluation capabilities would enable SERVICOM staff to design and oversee Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs, that improve service delivery outcomes nationwide.

Delivered by the Workforce Group, the training programme provided SERVICOM staff with advanced skills in data collection and analysis, the use of modern software tools, and effective evaluation techniques.

Participants were also equipped to develop standard operating procedures and monitor their implementation across MDAs, ensuring services meet established standards.

National Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, lauded the initiative, emphasizing its significance in transforming public service delivery.

“This training, supported by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and delivered under our partnership with the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, improves on our existing capabilities and empowers SERVICOM to fulfil its mission of ensuring quality public service delivery. We are excited about the impact this programme will have on Nigeria’s public service landscape,” she said.

Also speaking , the Head of Operations at SERVICOM, Mrs. Ngozi Akinbodewa, who was also a training participant, stressed the practical benefits of the programme.

“Developing Standard Operating Procedures will improve our operations by clearly defining roles and responsibilities, reducing the confusion and frustration that staff of SERVICOM and MDAs sometimes face in carrying out our work. This will lead to greater job satisfaction and improved service for Nigerians,” she said.

Driving Change in Public Service Delivery, Mrs. Ofovwe Aig-Imoukhuede, Executive Vice-Chair of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, stressed the importance of this capacity-building effort, describing it as a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s public service reform journey.

“This training represents a key step toward improving the experiences of Nigerians who rely on public services. Boosting the skills of SERVICOM staff will improve accountability and transparency across MDAs and set a standard for lasting improvements in public services delivered to citizens,” she said.

The initiative equips SERVICOM staff with the tools to implement data-driven monitoring and evaluation practices, identify service delivery gaps, and improve citizen satisfaction, by fostering a culture of accountability and efficiency, the partnership between the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation and SERVICOM promises a brighter future for public service delivery in Nigeria.
