The Federal Government and its partners have pledged to boost electricity supply to health facilities nationwide by at least 50 per cent before 2027.
The commitment was announced in Abuja on Wednesday during the Power4Health Dialogue, which brought together government officials, development partners, the private sector and civil society groups.
At the event, stakeholders signed a compact on sustainable electrification of public and private hospitals. The agreement involved the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Federal Ministry of Power, subnational governments, academia, service providers and health-related organisations.
The parties said the pact would strengthen healthcare delivery by ensuring reliable, affordable and adequate electricity supply, thereby improving access and quality of services for millions of Nigerians.
The compact is also expected to drive new financing models, inter-sectoral collaboration and public-private partnerships in the health sector.
