The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has announced that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, representing 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in Osun State, have been collected ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The Commission said 426,842 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent, remain uncollected and have been safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, in line with its established practice.
INEC disclosed this in a statement issued by the National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.
The Commission also said some registered voters whose PVCs were damaged, defaced or lost applied for replacement, adding that 6,101 of those who applied printed downloadable copies of their PVCs.
According to the statement, a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the PVCs collected has been published on the Commission’s website.
INEC assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media and residents of Osun State of its readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive governorship election on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The Commission urged all stakeholders to remain committed to the peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
