The FCT Police Command has uncovered an alleged child trafficking ring following the arrest of two ex-convicts in Kuje, with investigations indicating that four children may have been trafficked to different parts of the country since the suspects were released from prison.
The suspects, identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John, were arrested on August 27 while allegedly attempting to flee with a four-year-old girl, Ummi Mariam Abdullah.
The child was rescued after a member of the public alerted the police to the incident, leading operatives to the scene where the suspects were arrested.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said preliminary investigations showed that the suspects had previously been arrested in December 2025 and arraigned in court over a similar offence.
Adeh, in a statement explained that the pair were convicted and spent about five months in prison before being released on bail.
According to her, further investigation has now linked the suspects to the alleged abduction and trafficking of four children since their release.
The latest investigation, she said, also uncovered an alleged connection to a regular accomplice in Port Harcourt, identified only as Madam Ijeoma, who allegedly purchased two of the children for N1.5 million each.
The police said the rescued four-year-old has since been reunited with her family, while the two suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
The command urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about the safety and whereabouts of their children and wards, while calling on members of the public to report suspicious persons, movements or activities to the police.
