Tinubu mourns late former governor of Delta, Uduaghan

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his passing as a great loss to his family, Delta State and Nigeria.

Uduaghan, who died at the age of 71, served as governor of Delta State for two terms between 2007 and 2015, during which he pursued initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare delivery and the welfare of residents.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday, President Tinubu said Uduaghan was a public servant whose leadership was devoted to the development of Delta State and service to the nation.

The President recalled that the deceased served as Commissioner for Health and Secretary to the State Government before his election as governor in 2007, placing him at the centre of the state’s political and developmental journey.

Tinubu said Uduaghan remained an influential figure in Delta State’s political and socio-economic affairs after leaving office, contributing to democratic governance and public service.

He urged the people of Delta State to draw strength from the late governor’s years of service and the enduring relationships he built across Nigeria’s political and social landscape.

The President extended his condolences to Uduaghan’s wife, Roli, his children, cousin and former Delta governor James Ibori, as well as his friends, political associates and others whose lives he touched.

“His passing is a great loss to his family, his community, Delta State, and the nation at large,” Tinubu said.

He prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort all those mourning him.
